Painting roses always lifts me up and brings me joy, especially with this super fun and freeing process! It is all about loosening up, embracing color and inviting serendipity.
I love to paint roses in an abstract, impressionist way, because it allows me to focus on the way the roses FEEL, not just the way they look.
This joyful process is so forgiving and satisfying!

Roses are my favorite flowers. I love all their gorgeous colors and the whole palette of fragrances they generously offer if you take the time to come closer. Planted in good soil and given enough light, and care, they will thrive and bloom!
So layer by layer, we're going to make our way through a messy, entangled wilderness of branches and petals, before letting the light shine through to create the soothing and joyful feeling that these sweet and bold flowers evoke:

I will guide you step by step as you:
Find inspiration from images and real life
Gather colorful supplies for your own unique bouquet of roses
Warm up and loosen up with some quick, playful and scribbly sketches
Get started with messy, colorful under-layers in white, green and red/pink
Invite serendipity into your composition with plenty of collage
Build up layers of colorful petals
Let light in and quiet things down to create a magical, fresh and relaxed feel
Add finishing touches that will add yet another layer of magic, fix composition problems and lead to new opportunities
Keep playfulness and spontaneity alive through the whole process!
You can go as abstract as you like to end up with your own beautiful garden of roses!
GATHER YOUR MATERIALS
Below is a list of suggested supplies for the class. These are only suggestions, remember to use what you already have and already love. You can go on a scavenger hunt for all your pink art supplies (or any other color you’d like your roses to be). Have fun getting ready!
