Your Light Matters

Your light matters

show up and shine it bright!

Oh my, what an incredible start to the week! I'm celebrating light with the anniversary of my first class Layers of Light, and the whole sky has invited itself to the party: yesterday as I welcomed the students of my free workshop, the sun turned orange and covered everything in golden light. Combined with the gorgeous color of autumn leaves, it all felt completely magical... I feel so grateful for this gift and have decided to take it as a good omen!

In my previous post I talked about how scary it can be to step into the light and share our gifts with the world. And also how very much needed it is, and how much joy awaits on the other side... Well, yesterday I did just that: share my light in new, scary and exciting ways (including showing my curly head on camera for the first time!) and I am SO glad that I did: I've spent the last few hours in the classroom of the workshop, reading and answering comments... what a whirlwind of emotion. The energy in there is so beautiful, vibrant, positive, honest and hopeful. So full of light!

There are beginners, seasoned artists who have been on this journey for decades. Some are shining bright already and eager to explore more. Some are tip-toeing their way to new discoveries. Some haven't picked up a brush in years and finally feel inspired to start again! I can feel my soul singing and dancing inside of me... What a gift.

That's what happens when you show up and dare to shine your light: you inspire others to do the same.

It's like lighting a candle, then passing on the flame to light another and another, which in turn will light another and another... The more you share your light, the more it grows and ripples out in unexpected, magical ways.

But your job is just to shine that one light that is uniquely yours.

To take that one step, make this decision and commit to it. That's all you ever need to do, so little and so much all at once. That's why your light matters so very much. That's why you absolutely CAN make a difference in this world. In your own unique way, right where you are, right now. And you can do it with so much joy, and have so much fun in the process!

At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.

I really want to honor and thank all the students in my classes (if you are one, thank you SO much and congrats on following your light!) Some have joined me at the very beginning a year ago, and some I've met for the first time today. All of them, all of you are Light Seekers and Light Bearers, shining in a thousand different ways! I have a Student Art page that I encourage you to visit, including some "student spotlight" guest posts from my blog: let them inspire you!

And if you'd like to join the fun, feel more inspired and explore your own light in new ways this week, my free workshop "Into the Light" is open and I would love to have you with us! The first lesson is all about awakening your creative spark and it's live right now! Then tomorrow there will be a full painting tutorial to honor your True North Star, and more goodness coming up later in the week!

I hope I'll see you there!

Light and Love,
