New Beginnings

Welcoming

New Beginnings

hello my artsy friend!

Today I’m thrilled to share another, brand new page from my art journal! Every year I create a new page to welcome the New Year with gratitude, hopes and dreams, and a Word of the Year.

Let's welcome 2022 with renewed hope, joy and creativity!

past year, new year

Maybe the past year hasn’t been the easiest (again) but I believe it makes it even more important to appreciate the good things in our lives, and welcome the infinite possibilities of the New Year with an open heart. So let's dare to dream, make wishes and welcome 2022 with renewed hope, joy and of course, creativity!

At the beginning of every year, I open my art journal to express gratitude and start exploring my new word of the year. I can hardly believe it is already my 9th year with a “woty”! Each year they offer me support and inner guidance, sometimes in unexpected ways!

Here they are, and maybe this will give you some inspiration for your own Word of the Year!

2013: Truth. This was the year after my first art show, when I really committed to following my true path as a creative soul.

2014: Trust. This one really helped me continue the journey and grow my wings.

2015: Ease. One of favorite wotys ever, and not unlike the one I’ve chosen this year!

2016: Clarity. This one rocked my world, and not in a gentle way! But I’m forever grateful that it did: it took weeks in bed with pneumonia to finally emerge with a crystal-clear vision of my first online class, Layers of Light, and to overcome my shyness and resistance to teaching.

2017: Freedom. Oh the exhilarating feeling of this first full year as an entrepreneur! Being my own boss, sharing my gifts and doing what I love!

2018: Home. First woty page in my art journal! And pretty magical too: just a few months after I created it, we found our beautiful, 1901 French farmhouse! Every day it feels more and more like home to me.

2019: Queen. That one was tricky: the word kept showing up, it wanted to be chosen but I had so much resistance. It took the whole year to start feeling a little less uncomfortable with what it wanted to teach me: wear your crown, own your gifts, dare to be more of a leader in what you do, stop playing small (and just now I’m realizing I don’t even have a picture of it: resistance, I’m telling you!)

2020: Focus. I had no idea what was on the horizon when I chose it, but this word helped me SO MUCH in the first year of Covid. It helped me not lose sight of what I’m here to do, and help others keep in touch with their creativity. Because I deeply believe that making and sharing art really really helps.

2021: Fruitful. Such a lovely word! And full of wisdom too. A bit like the previous one, it has helped me stay focused on what can bear fruit in my life, my work, make better decisions, and let go of things that were wasting my energy, time or money. They are both very different, so I hope it will give you plenty more ideas.

2022: Comfortable… We’ll see what this one will bring! I had a bit of resistance towards it too, it felt a bit like a “lazy” word. But I know from experience that the more I resist a word, the more it is meant to be my “woty”. So we’ll see! I have started exploring it as I was creating my page, and it has already offered lots to think about. I’m sharing the thought process in the videos. I hope it will inspire you to chose and explore your own woty too!
