Light Seekers

Honoring Light Seekers

The summer has fled in a wink and as the loveliness of Autumn sets in, I am finally coming back to this online home of my thoughts, words and art. As I was creating my first online art course, Layers of Light, the past few months have been a whirlwind of work, creativity, courage, fear, excitement... painting, filming, writing... video editing and problem-solving... doubts, serendipity and divine timing... And then the Beauty and Joy of seeing it all come together, and the best part: the students!

Student art from Lesson 1 "Your natural Light": Soul Boards and photos by (from top left): D Loren Prince, Nancy Lennon, Kate Steuart Fothringham‎, Denise Kozikowski‎, Sherri McCulloch and Petra Hrziwnatzki

As you might know, this is my first class, and stepping into the role of teacher and guide took time, and work. Sometimes there's a lot to clear on the path to answering our deepest callings. Today, with a classroom full of beautiful Light Seekers, and also a local live workshop of 10 artsy adventurers every two weeks, I am softening into this with so much gratitude...

My heart is full when I see how students encourage each other, share tips and resources, struggles and epiphanies...  I am amazed to see the art that is being created: brave, authentic, unique expressions of truth and light. There are barriers being pushed through, fears and doubts overcome, inspiration sparked, new experiences enjoyed and friendships being born!

Student art from Lesson 2 "Embracing Contrast": 2 minutes collage, photography and mixed media paintings by (from top left): Rana Wilson, Kathy Mc Gowan, Wind Gypsy, Ivy Newport, Chris Burton and D Loren Prince.

I couldn't be happier to see how everyone is taking exactly what they need from the processes I am sharing, and making it their own. Trusting their intuition, tuning in to their own rhythm... What started as a "3 weeks" class organically and beautifully morphed into a deep, quiet, self-paced offering. And the classroom has truly become a beautiful, light-filled space where everyone is allowed to shine or softly glow, and be seen.

Student art from Lesson 3 "Catching Light with Texture": Encaustic art and photography by (from top left): Freya Perry, Carol Macdonald, Janet Reid, Denise Kozikowski, Géraldine Deleuze and Sophie Kerdellant.

I feel so grateful, and so inspired by these Light Seekers that I've decided to honor their truth and talent here on the blog! So in the coming weeks I'll be sharing more student art from the other lessons of the course, as well as some "Student Spotlight" guest posts!... Stay tuned!
