Today I'm going back in time as I share my very first art journal page from a year ago, and how I began my art journaling practice at a time when resistance was strong. Revisiting it brings out new stories and thoughts about these first steps...
There is such beautiful energy in the classroom of "Into the Light", the free workshop I'm offering this week to celebrate one year of teaching! Every new painting or photo posted in the group feels like a gift and I'm delighted to share some on the blog today!
In less than a week I know I will feel more vulnerable than ever. It's a funny thing to say but it's true. Because that's what stepping into the light does. Putting your work "out there", showing your art, sharing what you're so passionate about that you can hardly explain it... Sharing what makes you come alive, makes you who you are, at your very core, with all your light and beauty, and all your imperfections and clumsiness too.
Today I'm sharing the story behind the creation of my new class Little Book of Whispers... It is a journey, a quiet one, a gentle one, born in little pockets of time amidst the roars of the world. A little bubble of stillness to reconnect with the not-so-loud part of ourselves and create beauty from this sacred and fragile inner place.
Today is the shortest of the year, tonight will be the longest night, and tomorrow, light will come back, and will start growing again, a little bit more every day. What if you took this time to pause, remember, hope and celebrate? What if you made time to create art that honors your journey? What if you opened your heart to welcome light back in?
We just opened registration again for my online class Layers of Light! At this time of the year when we most feel the need for light in our lives, I am grateful and so delighted that we get to gather, create, and shine that much more brightly together. And delighted to share a glimpse of those creations today!
Today I'm delighted to share with you the second "Light Seeker student spotlight" from my online class Layers of Light! And even more delighted to introduce you to a fellow french artist: Sophie Kerdellant. Sophie shares a beautiful "poetic affirmation" that she wrote as part of the class, as well as a glimpse of her story as an artist, woman and mother committed to shining her true light in the world.
I'm excited to share with you the first of what will be a series of guest blog posts by some of the beautiful Light-Seekers taking part in my online class Layers of Light! Iris de Voogd is a textile artist from the Netherlands. She shares an authentic glimpse of her thoughts and emotions, her "growing pains", as she keeps striving for the light.
