Art journaling setup & supplies

Hello sweet creative!

Many of you told me you'd made your very first handmade art journal after following my tutorial. It brings me so much joy to imagine all those beautiful blank pages, ready to be filled with paint, collage, stories and dreams!

The next question I get asked all the time is:

"What art supplies do you use for art journaling?"

Today I'm taking you behind the scenes to share my favorite mixed media supplies, along with practical tips for setting up your creative space in a way that's both functional and inspiring.

Over the years, I've tried countless products, but I always come back to a small collection of trusted favorites. These are the supplies you'll find on my table again and again, whether I'm creating a journal page, experimenting with new techniques or simply enjoying an afternoon of creative play.

I hope this video inspires you to gather your own favorite supplies and create a space that invites you to make art more often!

My favorite art journaling supplies

The best advice I can give you is to start with what you already have and already love.

Mixed media offers endless possibilities, and it's easy to feel like you need every new supply that comes along. But after years of art journaling, I've discovered that I return to the same trusted basics again and again, along with a few favorite extras that bring me joy.

Create a space you'll love returning to

A welcoming creative space doesn't have to be perfect. What matters most is that it feels inviting and keeps your favorite supplies within easy reach, so it's easy to sit down, open your journal and begin.

If you're still setting up your art journaling practice, I also invite you to read my tutorial on making your own art journal, where I share my favorite handmade journal that opens flat and takes wet media beautifully.
