“Once upon a time, there was a lady who loved flowers. She planted them in her garden and painted them on her ceiling… Above all, she let them bloom within her soul like so many colored dreams.”

Floral patterns, vintage papers and a touch of gold create the timeless feel of an ancient wall. This painting was inspired by the first owner of our 1901 home who had roses painted on the ceiling of what is now my studio.

Butterflies are a symbol of Beauty and Transformation. They tell us that the time has come for something beautiful to unfurl... Dreams are not meant to stay buried inside of us; the chrysalis is only a temporary refuge to safely grow our wings. But when it's time to emerge from it, we know it, and all that's left to do is say a big, bold, joyful YES! Some dreams will need plenty of time to grow before they can hatch. Others could be getting close to coming out of their cocoon, and a few might already be basking their iridescent wings in the warmth of the sun for the very first time, eager to fly…

Whenever I remember that the cold and darkness of Winter are essential for life to bloom in Spring. Whenever I tend to the Secret Garden of my soul. This very big painting is like a window, a magical portal into the land of dreams. Every layer is infused with this sense of wonder and joy that you can't really put into words but can feel in your heart, if you just let it in.

This painting has a whole under-layer of book pages by Jane Austen and Emily Dickinson, two brave women and artists from the past who can inspire us today. The words "by a lady" are how Jane Austen used to sign her novels. She couldn't use her own name, but still affirmed her work as a woman's. There is simplicity, courage, elegance and a sense of mystery in those three little words, and in these free-flowing blooms.

From the Jane Austen series, this painting is inspired by the character of Anne in the novel “Persuasion”. As a young girl she was persuaded not to follow her heart, her dream, not to take any risks but instead conform other people's expectations. Years later, she finally finds the strength to fight for her dream and make it come true. As she looks through the window, this dream that seemed inaccessible before starts to bloom under her fingers.

Paper clay, oil and cold wax

From the Little Souls series. ‘Let Me Watch Over You” is one of the messages engraved on the dress of this little angel/fairy/guardian. It feels very soothing to me, this idea that everything is OK, that it’s all taken care of, that higher forces are protecting me, watching over me, keeping me safe when I feel vulnerable, small, tired… Her dress reminds me of the milky way and the big, magical, starry Universe we belong to. She feels both gentle and strong, so small yet draped in the whole galaxy. Quietly reassuring, soothing, calming. She reminds me I’m not just my small and sometimes overwhelmed self. There is so much more I can trust and rely on.

These little “wish-holder” sculptures are reminiscent of a kimono or a sacred robe, and inside their “chest” is a heart. They are meant as a daily reminder of our own sacredness, our own divinity and our heart’s deepest wishes.

Our dreams, the ones that truly are this “calling we can’t ignore”, are not meant to stay dormant inside our nest, as warm and cozy as it may be. Eventually we’ll need to crack that shell. At first, we will be small, vulnerable and awkward until our feathers grow. But eventually we will grow our wings and take flight.

From the Winged Keys series. An ornate, rusty key-hole adorns a wood panel covered in vintage papers: pages from a French schoolbook about Little Red Riding Hood and a handwritten list from a 1906 construction site. A second, plaster-covered panel frames the first, and a tiny winged key flutters at the bottom.

This piece speaks of duality and growing up. In the center is a tiny little girl. Sometimes she feels so small, and sometimes so big. The world keeps telling her to fit in but she looks through the keyhole at her own wonderland of possibility. What if she crossed to the other side? What if she was the key? Maybe the "secret" is about welcoming the little dreamer that lives within each of us, vulnerable and brave, innocent and wise, and gently opening the door, inviting her to play.

From the Winged Keys series. A cage of wire and plaster holds a beautifully rusty key. Bird-wings are made of a vintage naturalist plate on a wire structure. “Sometimes we can feel different, inadequate and trapped in a cage that is too small for our wings. But when we embrace our otherness, we can see it as a gift and finally take flight towards our dreams.”

From the Winged Keys series. “As elusive as it may sometimes seem, we hold the key to our dreams. Art can help us open the door and make sense of the mystery.” A serene and whimsical assemblage where a simple plaster box holds a vintage key with imperfect wings of wire and paper. A dice evokes chance and serendipity. Depending on the lighting, this piece will reveal another layer of interest when the light casts a second, shadow key.

It has come together very intuitively, as if each element knew exactly where it wanted to go, like a story weaving itself under my fingers, waiting to be told. What secrets does it hold for you?

It is made from a vintage French storybook and includes plenty of whimsical details, poetry and watercolor. “I took a rose from a vase and fastened it in her sash. She sighed a sign of ineffable satisfaction, as if her cup of happiness were now full." (Charlotte Brontë⁠).

This small wall-hanging is delicate and full of texture, including lace, cheesecloth, sari silk ribbon, dried leaves, feathers, book pages and a variety of yarns. It is inspired by the golden light over the meadows during my morning walks, this soft, warm light that radiates joy and peace and is one of my favorite ways to start the day.
