A natural story

a natural story

Hello beautiful soul,

I hope you enjoyed the Naturalist Collage mini series I shared in my previous post! I created it as was a warm-up before moving on to a larger piece, and as promised, here it is! Once again, it’s all about combining some of my favorite things: nature, collage and a vintage vibe.

I shared about this process in my previous blog post and I encourage you to check it out, then if you want to dive deeper and see it all on video, happy news! I’ll be sharing every little detail of both projects in Life Book 2023.

For now, here are plenty of pictures of how this botanical collage evolved, from a pile of papers to a cohesive whole:

extra little touches

I’m falling more and more in love with stitching, and using it as a form of mark-making in my art. It’s also a great way to attach certain elements like the delicate twig here. I also added a piece of frayed cotton (an old painting rag) as a backing to the piece. I love that it creates softer edges.

I have mounted this piece and the mini series on wood panels for added dimension. I will share this framing process in a video soon, stay tuned!

While I was at it, I also created two more butterfly pieces, slightly larger than the first mini series. I decided to mount these on some burlap canvases I had bought years ago and never used. I really like the contrast it creates! Here they are:

Some of you reached out to ask if these would be available for sale and the answer is YES! You can find out more details about each piece on my original art page. just click the button below. If you're interested, just fill in the form and we’ll get back to you quickly. We're working on setting up an online shop for original art, but sometimes it feels like there are not enough days in a week!
