Let me make a confession here: I love color and color mixing, it’s completely magical to me. But… I’m not big on color theory (or anything with the word “theory” in it, for that matter). I like to keep it simple and intuitive. But I love Kellee’s book! It’s definitely speaking my language as a mixed media artist. It’s fun, inspiring and at the same time it’s clear, practical and super useful. I will definitely recommend it to my students from now on.
I also love that Kellee shows you how to recreate the whole rainbow (and more) from just the three primary colors and white. You might already know the theory, but she makes it so fun and playful that you will actually want to do it. Like I always say, practice is key! Plus if you’re on a budget, or have limited storage space, color mixing is a no-brainer.
“The more you play, the more possibilities for creativity will open up to you. Be curious. Create for the experience first. You can’t skip the practice, the process, and the patience to grow and become.”
