from past students of this magical event:

āWords cannot express my gratitude for this utterly inspiring retreat Laly. I'm in awe of your creations and so thrilled to have participated, not procrastinated, in finally putting paints, inks, pens and crayons on paper. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable journey. Thank you for sharing so much and lighting the fire to get creative in my journal!ā
ā VICTORIA K.

āI have just completed your BEAUTIFUL workshop! Wowzers! You are an amazing teacher, Laly! I have done some form of art all my life, but this was a newer experience for me. I especially resonate with the spiritual, soul-full touch you infuse in your class.ā
ā KALEY F.

āI'm surprised each time I do a class from you just how it makes me feel. As the page develops, I find myself lost in time, lost within the layers. My mind is distracted, my soul feels nourished and recharged. The power and energy from your art process is extraordinary and helps heal me. Thank you Lalyā

Nurture Your Dreams
ā¦with art journaling!
I love how fun and freeing art journaling can be, especially when you approach it āthe mixed media wayā:
Art journaling is a process of making art just for yourself, in whatever way you choose, in the pages of a journal.
Mixed media is a playful and freeing art technique that blends together paint, collage, mark-making, writing and much more!
Your art journal can be a refuge to express your feelings and emotions, a safe space to process the ups and downs of life, tell your stories and memories, and a beautiful playground to unleash your creativity.
The surprising bonus is that art journaling will help you grow as an artist, and find your unique, authentic voice, just like it did for me.

No they're not. Make sure you have a good enough internet connection to be able to stream the videos.

Each workshop is about 1 hour of content, split into 2 videos. Then it's up to you how long you want to dedicate to the activities. In the first 3 workshops, we will create an art journal page from start to finish. In workshop 4 I will share an extra, shorter art journaling demo. This is one is intended to inspire you but you're not expected to create a second page from it (of course you can if you wish to!)

No. If you prefer you can use a sheet of watercolor paper or even a canvas. But if you would like to start an art journal (and I really hope you will!) then once you're signed up you will find a recommendation in the supplies list, or I have a tutorial for you to easily make your own.
-
Yes, there will be a temporary Facebook group for you to connect with fellow participants during the event. This group will close once the event is over.

Yes! There will be participants from all over the world. I'm French so I don't speak too fast, and all the videos have English captions (click the CC button) If you don't understand something, you can pause the video and try using Google Translate. I'm also doing my best to show you everything I do as clearly as possible.

What students of āthe artist & the journalā have said:

āI have found a whole new level of how to BE and how to make MY art. I always enjoy the place that creating art takes me, but this is taking me somewhere much deeper into my soul. I love the way you teach, you have shared so many tips, your techniques, your supplies... I have also discovered that I enjoy using my fingers more than a brush! Iām looking forward to doing more of your courses.ā
ā FIONA G.

āLaly does not mask her emotions for the sake of looking good. She shows up to her table to create and play by being vulnerable and real. With every paint stroke and piece of collage, she works through whatever she was feeling or what may have been blocking her at the time. In doing so, I find her sense of strength and courage so encouraging and empowering.ā
ā PATRICE E.

āLaly I cannot thank you enough. You have inspired me to get back into my art journals. I finally got out some watercolor paper and put together a journal using your video, got my space cleared out and cleaned up, and sat down to journal. You have inspired me to keep on going! Thank you, thank you!ā
ā ANGELA M.

āWow! What a fabulous class! Iāve taken a lot of classes, and this one was spectacular! Not only did Laly go over so many materials and usage... but she really makes you think about how it translates to your own art making. Not just āhereās a project, this is how to do itā. Laly talks you through her thoughts and shows you where she gets inspiration. I canāt wait to see what becomes in my studio after watching this class. So inspiring.ā
ā JANNE R.

āI began my journey by taking classes with other artists; however, they almost entirely led to me painting like the teacher rather than in my own style. It wasnāt until I discovered Laly and enrolled in āThe Artist and the Journalā that my own style began to emerge. Not only have my mixed media skills improved, but my creativity has flourished! I canāt recommend this class enough!ā
ā KARIN K.

āIām discovering new nuances to this art every day I come back to the videos and my journal. I trust myself so much more as a result of your lovely teaching. You really possess so many lovely gifts and Iām so glad you followed your impulse to share them in this way. I donāt have the words to express my gratitude for all Iāve learned in this course, Laly. It has been transformational. Must be all the butterflies!ā
ā BRIDGET B.S.
