In this workshop, I’m inviting you to explore a color you find beautiful, but a little challenging. For instance: I feel super inspired by the colors of autumn right now, yet when it comes to painting, they are way out of my comfort zone!
That's where this Color Challenge comes in: by creating a small series, we can practice making friends with color in a way that's not intimidating or overwhelming. And by working abstract, we can focus on the way color makes us feel, the emotions it evokes... plus it's super forgiving!
Here is another example: I have a tube of super bright pink paint that I'm in love with, yet I hardly ever use it because once I apply it to the canvas, it quickly feels overwhelming. But I'm not giving up! Little by little I'm making friends with it, using it in small amounts, tiny highlights that instantly make a painting pop. Then who knows, some day I might become bolder and use it a lot more!
