Clear the Clutter, Spark Your Creativity!

Dear Creative Soul!

I'm at a time of life when I feel the need to simplify, declutter, streamline things, while redefining what really works for me, what actually supports me and my creativity. So I have some tips to share with you on that topic today!

And I invite you to take a moment today, and really think about your space, your needs, what truly makes you feel inspired, uplifted and creative. Sometimes a tiny corner in the living room will work better than a dedicated space where you only go when you "have the time"...

Clear the Physical, Clear the Emotional

Your creative space holds so much more than supplies and materials—it holds your energy, your dreams, and your creative voice.

But when that space becomes cluttered, disorganized, or neglected, it can feel heavy... even overwhelming. That’s why decluttering is one of the most powerful ways to reconnect with your creativity.

Decluttering your studio is never just about the “stuff.” It’s about releasing what no longer resonates with who you are now as an artist and a person, in your season of life.

Take a moment to gently go through your shelves, drawers, and corners. Are there supplies you haven’t used in years? Projects you started but no longer feel connected to? Be honest—and kind.

Before you even think about reorganizing, here are a few things to look for and lovingly let go of:

  • 🎨 Colors you don’t like at all—if they don’t spark joy, they’re simply taking up space.

  • 📄 Collage papers that don’t feel like “you”—keep only the sheets that truly inspire you.

  • 🧪 Free samples you’ve never used—if they’ve sat untouched this long, they’re not meant for you.

  • 🖌️ Broken or ruined supplies—like hardened brushes or dried-up paints that stir guilt instead of excitement.

  • 🛍️ Impulse buys—those “what was I thinking?” items from a shopping spree (yes, even the pretty-but-useless rubber stamps).

  • 📦 “Just in case” clutter—the things you’re keeping out of fear or habit, not intention.

  • 🗂️ Abandoned projects—if the thought of finishing them makes you sigh instead of smile, it’s time to set them free.

Let go of anything that feels like guilt, pressure, or a "should."

You’re not failing by releasing these things—you’re making space for what truly lights you up.

Notice how your body feels as you declutter. The sigh of relief, the lightness in your chest. And you don't have to do it all in one go (and end up with an overwhelming mess). Sometimes, clearing a single drawer can shift your whole day.

This isn’t about being ruthless—it’s about being real. About honoring your growth, your evolution, and giving yourself the freedom to begin again, with clarity and joy.

Create Beautiful, Simple Storage

Once you’ve cleared the clutter, it’s time to give your materials the love they deserve. Think: beauty meets function.

Use containers that spark joy: glass jars, handwoven baskets, vintage tins, or soft fabric bins. Label them if you like, so you know exactly where everything belongs. Even simple handwritten tags can guide your flow and reduce decision fatigue.

Clear boxes also work really well, because you can instantly identify what's inside. And when things have a home, your mind relaxes.

You don’t need to buy anything fancy. Sometimes the most charming storage comes from what you already have—especially when repurposed with intention.

Let this be a creative act in itself: arranging your brushes like a tempting bouquet, lining up your paints by color, sitting down to sharpen all your pencils (this one is pretty meditative).

When your space is organized and beautiful, your creativity feels safe, supported, and way more ready to bloom.

Claim Your Space—No Matter the Size

You don’t need a spacious studio to feel like a real artist. Your creativity simply needs a place to call home.

Maybe it’s a corner of the living room, a table by the window, or even a tray you bring out when it’s time to create. What matters is the energy you bring to it.

Surround yourself with what inspires you—your favorite colors, a candle, a feather, a photo that makes you smile. Add softness, light, a little magic.

This is your invitation to claim your space with love and intention. To say: “This is my time. This is my place. I’m showing up.”

You don’t need a flawless setup. What you need is the loving permission to show up, to explore, and to create—right where you are.

In my future home, where I'll be moving next February, i won't have a dedicated office or studio. It will all be in my living room, woven into the everyday. For sure, it will sometimes get messy, but I also feel in my bones that it's going to help me with this new life, this new beginning.

Take a moment to look around: what drawer, jar, corner, or wall could you transform today to make more room—for breath, for inspiration, and for you?

Let this be your gentle invitation to start small, feel the flow, and reconnect with your creative heartbeat.
